Four hiking highlights for pleasure-filled treks

It is hard to decide, with over 400 km of hiking trails to choose from... We have therefore made the decision a little easier for you, and selected four of our most beautiful tours for your hiking holiday!

A hike along the “Sonnseitpromenade - Sunshine Promenade” is perfect for those who fancy an easy walk of around 2 hours in duration. The route takes you from Saalbach Ronachgut and past numerous farms to Jausern. You can return on foot along the Saalach inlet, or even more comfortably by bus.

If you and your co-walkers need a little refreshment along the way, there are plenty of places to stop for drinks and/or food. The Sonnseit-Promenade impresses with its wonderful view of Saalbach and easy degree of difficulty, making it ideal for seniors and families with children.

Baumzipfelweg is the highest treetop-hiking trail in Europe. Constructions of solid larch wood form stairs, towers, bridges and platforms, each offering wonderful views.

Even at late hours, the Baumzipfelweg is easy to walk on - the atmospheric night illuminations brings light into the darkness. Incidentally, the longest pedestrian bridge in the Alpine highlands is also located there: the Golden Gate Bridge of the Alps. This combined with the "Baumzipfelweg" results in a round walk of one kilometre in length, which offers walkers of all ages interesting insights of the natural landscape.

Find out more about the Glemmtal valley, during a relaxed leisurely walk around the Zwölferkogel mountain area. From the historic evolution of an impoverished village of mountain farmers to an internationally renowned tourist resort, as well as exciting sagas and legends from the Glemmtal valley area. Last but not least, comfortable lounge chairs entice you to take a welcome break.

This hike culminates with a visit to Montelino’s Mountain peak playground with slackline parcours, climbing frames, a high seat and many other fun game stations located at the mountain terminal of the Kohlmaisgipfelbahn cable car.

A splendidly laid out path of medicinal herbs on Reiterkogel in Hinterglemm is an ideal place for hobby gardeners and anyone who loves nature: over 80 local plants can be discovered here, with free admission, and visitors can find out which plants are poisonous and which herbs are used in medicine and cuisine.

Herbal Trail is located right next to Reiteralm on Reiterkogel at an altitude of 1,544 m above sea level, just a short walk from Reiterkogel lift mountain station (about 30 min). For detailed information on individual herbs, see our “Medicinal Herbs” brochure, available from Reiterkogel cable car, or in the herbal area.

Pure Nature: We know and love our region - which is why we are perfectly placed to provide our guests with advice on where to go for special hikes and idyllic views!”
